Jesus’ ministry in pictures

Children from my church drew these pictures to help tell the story of Jesus’ life and teaching. This collection of drawings does not include Jesus’ birth and childhood or his last week before he died and was resurrected, but it will depict some of the ministry and miracles of Christ. There is so much more Jesus said and did, and this is a very simplified account, but it helps illustrate some of the truths of the gospel through a child’s eyes.

Before Jesus started teaching, he went to the Jordan River to be baptized by John.

As soon as Jesus was baptized and came up out of the water, the spirit of God came from heaven like a dove.

God said, “This is my son, and I love him.”

Jesus asked fishermen to be his helpers. The fishermen left their nets and their boats and followed Jesus.

One day, Jesus and his disciples were in a boat, and Jesus was asleep. Suddenly there was a big storm with lots of wind. The disciples were scared.

But Jesus told the wind and the waves to be still.

And the storm stopped.

Once when Jesus’ friends were fishing, they didn’t catch anything. Jesus told them to go into deep water and try again. When the disciples did what Jesus said, their nets were full of fish.

Jesus loves everyone, especially kids. He said, “Let the children come to me.” Jesus taught that children are very important to God.

Jesus made sick people feel better.

He made blind people see.

One day when a crowd of people gathered to listen to Jesus, a little boy shared his food of five small loaves of bread and two little fish.

Jesus made it enough to feed all the people. Jesus always cared about what people needed.

Jesus taught that God takes care of birds and God takes care of flowers. We don’t have to worry because God will take care of us.

Jesus told stories called parables that taught about God. He said that the kingdom of heaven is like a tiny mustard seed that grows and grows.

The story about the lost sheep tells us that God cares about every one of us and always loves us. Jesus is like a good shepherd who knows us by name.

Jesus taught us to love others and to be a good neighbor. He told a story about a man who was hurt and one man who helped. He told us not to ignore people who need our help.

Jesus taught us how to pray. He showed us that we should take time to talk with God.

.

Jesus is God and Jesus loves us all.

Children who drew these pictures were three years old through sixth grade at the time. Some of those children are now college graduates and young professionals. It was a privilege watching them grow into the young men and women they have become.
